Ferry travel is not something that I've done a lot of, especially down in Sydney (I used to catch the ferry up in Newcastle a bit back when I was living there). Last time I did catch a boat down in Sydney, it wasn't a ferry (it was one of those party boats, because I'm very boring). So when I set out to do some ferry travel in Sydney, I was very unprepared. I did know that the best spot to catch a ferry from was Circular Quay, so that's where I went.
When I arrived there, I checked the map of the ferry routes and decided to do a couple of round trips, one out to Parramatta and back followed by one out to Manly and back. Despite the cloudy and sometimes rainy weather that occurred as I was out, I was able to get some good shots on both trips, especially with the sun setting while I was on the Manly trip.

I definitely recommend a trip on the ferry if you want to see Sydney.
